How to Use 2024 Reflections to Guide Your 2025 Wellness Ambitions
As 2024 enters its final month, you may find yourself reflecting on a year that was filled with changes, challenges, and chances. Maybe you finally started an exercise routine, or perhaps you picked up a new hobby that keeps you active. Whatever the case may be, taking a moment to reflect on the lessons you learned in 2024 will help you make 2025 your best year yet.
Three Reflections to Consider in 2024
1. Acknowledge Your Wins
Start by listing your achievements. Did you get stronger, learn to meditate, or become more flexible? Give yourself credit! Wins don’t need to be massive to count. Every success you acknowledge is an opportunity to increase your confidence and orient yourself towards greater success in the future.
2. Acknowledge Your Challenges
Reflect on the obstacles you faced – both physical and mental. What were they, and how did they shape you? Maybe you suffered an injury or started a demanding job that interferes with your sleep schedule. Acknowledging setbacks helps you appreciate your resilience and identify opportunities for growth.
3. Express Gratitude
Take a moment to appreciate the people, experiences, and opportunities that enriched your year. Write a list, letter, or simply sit quietly and reflect on the abundance in your life. Acknowledging the things you are grateful for is a concrete and immediate way in which you can improve your wellbeing.
Five Goals to Set in 2025
1. Dedicate One Hour to a Project Each Day
How many hours a day do you spend scrolling on your phone? How about we swap an hour of screen time for something meaningful – like learning a skills, reading, or cooking. So, let’s set down the phone, pick up a passion, and invest in self-improvement.
2. Give Mindfulness a Try
Do you ever feel overwhelmed and outpaced by life? Do you ever feel like you live on autopilot? If so, this goal is for you. Unlike what you may imagine, mindfulness doesn’t mean sitting on a mountain meditating all day (though that sounds really cool!). Mindfulness can be as simple as taking a five-minute break each day to breathe, check in with yourself, and appreciate the moment. Simple mindful practices can reduce stress and deepen your connections.
3. Find Healthy Foods That Work for You
In 2025, try to prioritize balanced meals instead of following short-term trends. Aim to include a variety of whole foods like vegetables, fruits, lean proteins, and healthy fats. Experimenting with new cooking styles with a focus on finding meals that you find both enjoyable and nutritious will help you make healthy changes that last!
4. Move More & Sit Less
Physical health doesn’t mean you need to spend hours in the gym. One of the simplest and most effective health goals for 2025 is to simply move more. Set a daily movement goal that works for you. It could be taking a brisk 20-minute walk, setting aside 15 minutes to stretch before bed, or trying a new workout class. Whatever you choose – the best way to build a habit around movement is to find an active habit that you enjoy.
5. Check In With Your Health
Don’t wait until something feels wrong — schedule annual check-ups so that you can stay on top of preventive care. This includes routine screenings, dental visits, and eye exams. By making these visits a regular part of your routine, you’ll ensure your body gets the care it needs.
